PowerTCP SSL Sockets for .NET

Using Editor Forms

Each component contained within PowerTCP SSL Sockets for .NET includes an editor form. This editor form is useful for protocol testing.

Editor forms are only available if you are working in the Visual Studio .NET environment and are using the component by dragging an instance onto a form.

To use an Editor Form, use the following steps (using the Dns component as an example).

  1. Start a new Visual Studio .NET windows application
  2. Drag an instance of the Dns component onto the form.
  3. The Dns component icon should appear on a panel beneath the form. Click the icon to select it.
  4. In the Properties Window, click the Properties button if the properties of the Dns component are not displayed. If the Properties Window is not visible, go to the View menu and choose Properties Window.
  5. Find the Editor property and click it with the mouse. Click the ellipsis that appears next to the Editor property. This should open a "mini" Dns application to use for testing.
Note   All properties set on the Dns Editor Form will also be set in your Windows Application, so the Dns Editor Form can be used as a "WYSIWYG" code editor to quickly create applications.
